  • a canny afternoon

fished the prom next to smiths dock today for a couple of hours as i had a bit bait and some time to kill. not ideal being daylight and half tide up but the reports have been canny so i thought why not.
missed a bight on the first cast then had two small codling in successive casts about a pound a piece. it went very quiet over the turn but i finished off with a mid size whiting on my last cast so overall not a bad afternoon with three fish for about 3lb.
the only downside is the amount of line lying about the place. it's the first time i've fished there but unless anglers learn to clear up after themselves i wouldn't mind betting that it'll soon become another area that we're barred from.
still not a bad way to pass a few hours though.

yea it was high shore. on the opposite side of the lock gates from the marina. ideal if you like prom fishing or just fancy a quick hour during the day. stacks of bites and easy to access.

i know what your saying about the mess, high shore is my favourite shot on the river and i'd be gutted if we got banned from fishing there.
