blyth ferry

was fishing last night at the old jettys by the blyth to cambios ferry
was a bit wet not cold low tide fishing with rag was there about 4 hours
nothing at first then half an hour in i caught an eels i got one every time
i counted 9 just about every cast and one time i had two on the same trace i hate eels wheres that many come from in one night

hate em too! but it is all you are likely to catch there! if you were on cambois side try the ramp at low tide, mainly flounders but i have caught a turbot this year also have the chance of coalies and bass!

im looking places to take the laddy i used to fish there years back try i'l try cambios side lyk blyth habour but the boy races r starting to pee me off
is it worth fishing down the dam at ashington used to get some canny flatties down there i wudnt eat non ov them

Na mate try further down about 50 yds past the wall at the mouth. fish the channel anytime the tide is moving ( you will need gripleads if a big tide) lots of nice clean flounders, poddlers and maybe something else.....a big crab!!! but the bairn will love those. I fish there meself sometimes cos the scenery is great and relaxing.

If you enjoy flatty bashing you cant beat alnmouth!!! if you drive.

iv had some canny days up alanmouth the flatties r a canny size up there
iv camped over night and fished early in the morning it nice in the summer up there i like theres some big seas in the winter

Could spend all day fishing alnmouth, lovely place but lacks a chippy and the schooner is "rick stein" prices so always come home starving!

I used to fish off Bates jetty back in the 60's- 70's-80's in the winter, there were some cracking cod caught there, right up to the west staithes beside the cambois power station. the river use to be alive with codling and whiting.
