fished south shields pier last night, got there about 7pm. had first cast on end got codling just size, decided to move onto the small wall casting into the river, got 1 out straight away codling 45cm, next cast produced a coalie 38cm, next cast codling just under 35cm, as soon as the bait settled on the bottom you were gettin bites, checked the time it was now 9pm, only had half hour left of fishing, looked at me rod tip being pulled down then sprang back 2 mins later another codling lying there at 37cm 9.15.. 15 mins left if i wanted to get back to catch the weigh in baited up cast out and within seconds another cracking bite wich resulted in another codling. packed up rushed of the pier got back to eastender club, wighed fish my heaviest codling touched the scales at 1lb 13 oz coalie 1ib 3 and the other two codling were 1lb 1 each.... i ended up winning with my codling so all in all it was a real good session cant wait for sunday for the newbiggan.. good luck every one .... dave
