  • royal quays, grrrrrrrr.

Me and lolipop decided to fish the railings other side of the royal quays hoping to catch some cod. got there for 8.30pm fished till 2 am.
we fished the middle at first and were plagued by crabs, lol managed a decent coaly and I pulled in another piggin eel ! bumped into two lads who advised we move to the end next to smiths, so we did and first cast we got a good flounder and a dab, in the next hour we only managed another flounder and a whiting...no cod. to top it off all night big salmon were jumping about the river just to rub it in.
ah well no cod but 6 species spotted, no trouble with the car, and a bloke clambering over smiths fencing gace me a nice 2 lb cod for me tea. cheers mate!

ive had some good fish from high shore, the only spot where you get the decent fish is next to the wall casting towards the ferry landing, you need a canny chuck though as there's not many fish close in and there's a few snags since they started working on the dock.

cheers, I'll know for next time. Came rigged for snaggy ground, heavy lineand rotten bottoms so not the best for a good chuck. Funny enough never lost a thing lolipop lost three. There are fish there just not what we were after tonight.
did' nt fancy trying to get onto smiths dock like the other lads, one slip and you have a canny swim to the nearest ladders to get out!

High shore was good back when it was a wooden jetty til some tit decided to set it on fire. Next to the wall is good for flatties, used to be a little bridge there where you would get many handline fishers but like everywhere along the North side of the river, idiots had to turn up and wreck the place, just like whitehill point.
