went down to Blyth pier this morning after finishing my last nightshift for the week fished 08.30-10.30 using daylights and a spinner without any luck dont think anyone on the pier caught anything, the only person getting any fish was the lad pulling in his nets, they could nt have been any further than 60-80 yards out and ran parallel to the pier, this is killing the sport for anyone on the pier, after he finished he reset and went along blyth beach to attend to other nets.
i know people have got to make a living, but i and others on this site have to make a living, then we use our precious spare time to fish or attempt to, only to have our chances vastly reduced by these fishermen who are knocking the a**e out of these inshore marks.
Also the fish they 're catching cant be as big / mature or as plentiful as those further out, it is about time that something is done to protect sea angling with restrictions to how close these fishermen can set there nets to land and to the piers.
But this will never happen as this government does'nt see us as a revenue stream and ignores the taxes that we pay that should earn us and our hobby protection.
