Set of to Creswell this morning the plan was to fish the tide up got a variety of different rigs and some rag worm set everything up using my beach caster set up with a five hook flattie rig with lures and also baited, set up my spinning rod with bait closer in using a 2 oz sinker and two hook flapper rig, first cast with the light gear was a bit of a disaster about twenty yards if was i lucky so reeled it in and found that i'd caught what i believed to be a weaver about 5-6 inches, while carefully trying to remove the fish safely to avoid hurting it or it hurting me i managed to stab myself in the thumb believe i managed to do this with the eye of the hook ( quite an feat in itself ) after several moments of ungentlemanly behaviour and language i returned to the task and removed the hook from the weaver, i then tried to stop my thumb bleeding.
When i released it i was very surprised how quickly and effectively it buried itself, no more barefoot paddling for me.
The rest of my outing was not very effective it was far to windy so quickly gave up on the light gear started upping the weights on my beach caster also tried with spider weights to no success, after an hour and a half i gave in, the wind and tide beat me,felt like leaving my gear on the beach.
Also had some A hole dog walker walk between me and the water while my bait was soaking despite my warnings ( i had my tripod set up about 5 metres from the water ) and then he tried to have a go at me telling me to be careful of his dogs, lets say my response was not polite, very annoying as i would hate for the dog to be hurt do to the stupidity and arrogance of its owner.
on the whole a frustrating day but strangely still looking forward to my next trip out.
