  • blyth pier then cambois ramp then fishfinger sandwiches

Went onto blyth pier today about 12.45 with my little spinning rod, set it up with daylights and a 2 0z spinner on the end, i decided to fish the bend it was a bit murky and overcast but managed to get a good sized mackerel after about an hour, not many around the pier maybe a dozen or so caught i decided that i would try somewhere else at 14.00 when three kids set up about ten foot away from me and the lead started flying from every direction.

So i decided to try cambois boat ramp for the first time, while looking for it i drove along a piece of extremely rough and potholed track to the wooden jetty were someone pointed me in the right direction ( this always seems to be were i just came from ), anyway found the ramp but was advised against spinning by some anglers already there, who told me i would have more luck spinning further along, as i did'nt fancy taking my car back along that track i decided to stay put and fish for flatties, but i did'nt have any bait so made the decision to risk/use the mackerel which i had earlier earmarked for my tea in hope of something better.

Fished it from 14.50 to 17.50 using a two hook flapper rig with a 2 oz weight got a few nibbles but nothing landed, the others there caught a few dabs and then a plaice about 1/2 lb that was just before i left to go home for my tea, (thank goodness for fish finger sandwiches).

I was parked up near there at about 2.30 .
saw 4 people fishing including one near the bottom of the ramp.
Water was very clear and from the top of the cliff where is was standing i could see 3 fish all swimming only about 20/25 feet away from the ramp,on the sand straight out from the ramp along side the rocks.

the kid on the bottom packed up soon after i got there, thinking i should have stuck to my original plan and went spinning or used a popper.

Yeah pity you cannot have the same view from the ramp as i did from the hill top. Could have targeted the fish i saw swimming.
