i got to the pier at 5.30pm walked up to around the 44 mark to fish there untill all the makrel fishers left the end, first cast i had a little dab second chuck i got a makrel on my crab bait first time iv ever caught 1 on bait was a good fight what it put up aswell nice size makrel so i cast out again with some more crab on then got another makrel after this i just started letting the bait sink left it for a minute then reeld in and another makrel lol so basically i was spinning with my pulley rig baited with old crab and i came home with about 12 makrel. i even tried with no bait and still got 1. went to the end at around 8.30 had a nice colie then 3 codling 1 was size and on my last cast a scotch haddock, left the pier for half 10 with a bag full of makrel and 1 codling for my tea so i had a good night.

Sounds like you got a good break. I've been to the North Gare on the Tees estuary twice this week and not a thing. Over the two visits there must have been 20 other lads out there and only saw 4 Macky and 1 Bass being pulled out. Off out again on Wed, just got to choose where. Sounds like another trip up to shields is on the cards.

yeah there was plenty of makrel getting cort wish id taken some daylights think i would of been gettin much more the as i was only using a pully rig with abit crab on lol so could only get 1 at a time, didnt have it planned to go makrel fishing but i need some for the winter, was a few codling on the end aswell i was the only person bait fishing at the end was a couple guys down near the blocks bait fishing said theyd only had small stuff
