After blanking on my last two trips, (lyneburn+cambois) decided
to go where I know there is fish. so got up early and made the
trip up to almouth, parked at the bottom of the road past the
schooner hotel and fished opposite the green concrete blocks on the
other side.
I knew as soon as the tide turned it starts to fish even if there is
only a foot of water or so.
As the tide started in I used my spinning set up put a light weight
on with some rag and trotted the lead upstream, within minutes
the first fish a little flounder.
Fished for five hours and it was almost a fish every cast, lost count
how many and they all went back unharmed.
Most were small with five or six bieng better, no double siders at all
all clean and fat. The biggest one gave me a great scrap on the light
gear.
Would recommend this place for anyone with kids or just as some fun.
And not a crab in sight!!!
