Thanks for the report, was seriously thinking about giving up a nice lie in and giving SS pier a try in the morning. Might just wait a few days.

me and a mate got there bout 8.15 and and was very quiet for about 2--3 hours then started to liven up with undersize coli,s dabs, codling most of the day with an odd whiting and a sizable place and borderline cod and coliu, and no maki tiill bout 6 o/clok when about 6 were caught till bout 7 then went quiet again, highlight of the day a managed to get 2.5lb codling second last cast all in all not a bad day especially as no numpties or alkies down just anglers down bait fishing and spinning in harmony and thats what it is all about enjoying oneself fishing

ps agree with you about the pots they are getting a bit close lol

I got down there about 5:30pm, started off on the 45 mark where I had a couple of coalies, the first went 26cm and didn't make it back alive as the second it hit the water a greedy Herring Gull swooped down and scoffed the poor bugger down in one! The other was just size at 36cm and made it back in one piece.

At 9pm the jobsworth warden decided to have some fun and kicked us all off the pier, after locking the gate he then turned to us and said "pier's all your's boys, away you go". Still the exercise is good for you I suppose. Headed for the roundend to fish the early ebb, second cast I looked up and had slack everywhere, reeled like mad and lifted into a good fish, got it into the pier wall and as I started to handline it up my line snapped before I could grab the shockleader. Much cursing and swearing ensued, with hidsight I should have walked it round to the steps but when you can't see it... Whatever size it was it snapped 15lb line with quite a crack

Fished on for another hour with a couple of undersize codling to show before heading of at 11:15 as I'd parked in the lock - in car park. All in all a canny session and as Bob says nice to fish with anglers and not a numpty in sight.
