Went down to the chain last night for a bit of fun with a mate, fished the wall side. lines were in just as the tide started to go back out.
I fished hard on the bottom trying to catch a decent flattie, my mate had three hooks first one 12 inches up off bottom. both using rag and mackerall.
I was casting towards the dam a little and baz was just straight out the middle of the thin bit.
I caught a couple of flounders nothing big, and a very persistent crab that decided it was not going to let go of the hook until the very last bit of rag was in its gob! then happily dropped off and crawled back to the water, cheeky sod.
Baz had a good night though, not fishing the bottom he landed about 11 poddlers ( coleys) and a couple of flounders, also one granny fish!
Took the spinners too and managed a coley each, water was still a bit mucky though. there were a few out and about with a couple of lads round the corner from us fishing the estuary and getting flatties, also some lads spinning the river where it meets the sea, didnt see them get anthing though.
Only bad thing was seeing a good few dead poddlers float past, can only assume some kids fishing the dam !
An enjoyable couple of hours in lovely weather and scenery, will go back again soon!
