Got there just before it got dark last night.3 other guys fishing they had been there a few hours and caught nowt. Fished for a couple of hours no bites so decided for a move headed south to fish lynemouth beach just to the right of the pipe. first cast got a good bite and pulled in a 2lb coddling then every cast was small rattles and no fish plenty others fishing the beach but didn't see anything else caught. When i came to gut the fish noticed a red hole on the side of the fish which went quite deep are these fish safe to eat? Sorry forgot to take photo before gutting. Also got some bait left was going to cambois hole on monday 2hrs either side of low water any tips as never fished if before so was going to fish it in daylight first.
    Cheers mark

Quite possibly a hagfish that has put the hole in the side of the fish.
