  • Easy nights fishing

Fished a BOTAC match last night as the SBRAAC have had a 2 week sabbatical

Decided on King Edwards Bay due to the strong westerlies as A) I fancied a bit of shelter and B) I fancied an easy nights fishing not losing gear every ten minutes

Pleasant evening really, a little bit of drizzle but by and by the sky was clear and the moon was nigh on full

Rotated tactics - 1 up 1 down scratching rig / 2/0 pulley rig. Bait was Lug/Mussel

First cast resulted in a small coalie. Second cast, another small coalie (30cms) and so it went on with virtually a fish a chuck which included more small coalies and a rockling...

...finally got a decent knock on the pulley rig which resulted in...

YAY WOOO YAY...at last the demons have deserted me and a SIZE 36cm Coalie is landed at my feet been haunted by numerous Coalies below legal size all season

And the fish kept coming and even though they were small I was still content to be kept busy

A small Flounder (I was willing it to be a Dab)

and in the final half hour I got a double shot...

So my bag for the match was 1lb 8oz 2dr which didn't win me any prizes but it's nice just to weigh in (which I haven't done in any club match this year )

Had the radio on on my phone too - even managed to get a shout out on the Radcliffe/Maconie show at 2107ish

    ...til the next time
    Ooh a new vid!

Well done Tony mate. You'll not stop catching size coalies now.

Congrats on the size podler at last Tony! Lots more sizers to come from now on I'm sure - I know the feeling all too well as between february & the beginning of september I couldn't get a size round-fish (other than mackerel) & was getting well hacked off! Mind you, during a comp, not sure you should spend too much time doodling in the sand and taking piccies - get them baits back in the watter!!

                  Cheers, Gary
