I thought I'd be different (never been one to follow trends anyway)
So I've set myself the 2 Cod challenge - which I feel will be easily attainable and therefore anything beyond that will be a bonus and thus my season will not be a dissappointment...
Been a while since I posted a report..not because I've not been fishing but I've not really caught anything of note, despite my best efforts
I was out last night for a leisure session and fished from 1900ish to 0100ish last night which was pretty much HW down to LW and a bit of the flood
Started off at Seaton Sluice, fished a while in the St Marys vicinity and then ended up on Whitley
Gregg joined me for the first few hours - despite the fact that he was up early doors as it's his anniversary this weekend
Gregg managed to bag a few coalies at Sluice - one of them being size
I took a picture to prove to myself they DO exist (I've been haunted by 34cm Coalies in virtually all my club matches so far this year )
After an hour or so of relatively fruitless action where we were, we moved on to the St Marys vicinity where I was "guaranteed" a Cod by Gregg...I was starting to doubt him after the first hour whereby I'd only managed a Rockling (my first of the year but prob not the last)
But after a while I got a slack liner, the fish seemed to dissappear, it was on then on then it wasn't - anyway it WAS on and I reeled it in...after a mad dash across the rocks I was able to measure it at SIZE (only just mind)
Now I did try to release the little fella - but after a few minutes of trying to revive him in one of the deep pools all he wanted to do was the backstroke so I kept him (just before I get shouted at )
Anyway after another hour in said spot Gregg went home and I went on to Whitley...wished I hadn't really as it was a case of get your numbered ticket at the door and join a queue
Easy over 20 rods on EVERY known Whitley mark...I managed to get on the edge of Panama but it was not ideal and lost a rig a cast for the next 2 hours before finally I gave up and went home - missing the flood which would have prob fished quite well
Anywho I'd broken my duck, managed the first size codling of the season and I was relatively happy - but on hindsight wished I'd stayed in the second spot
...til the next time
