      Aye a kelp cod is know as a red cod, i.e. red because of the kelp. The bigger fish in the 2nd pic is a red cod.

        right steve so even if its like orange its still not a kelp cod? well why do they change colours then - i know alil cos off the rough ground maybe has summit to do with it maybe. but i do like the red cod! must of lived in the kelp its whole life

                      Hiya mate, been offline all week due to a busted modem ; I was one of the three fishing the rocks (Coble Hole). We each got a small codling, best pound & a half & I lost a good fish (really had my old Apollo buckled over but shed the hook after I'd rived it through all the kelp )but all before it got dark - as soon as night came the bites dried up. Lots of bites earlier (lost a small one fast up as well). Glad you got something off the pier. BTW, ours were all fresh-run as well.

                        Lol gary you see me with the headlamp on lookin over thinkin hmmmm... watch the waves lads canny run in the sea that night was great fun n all... shame u lost a gd'n in the kelp m8, had same probs that night well just twice.. but what a fight thos 2lbers give ya :P nice to hear ya got summit (wanna fish thos rocks but dunno weather to go at night or evening) oh whilst comin off the pier half way when tide was well out 7.50am there was a small beach in the opening between the cambois rocks! was like looks promisin... might try it on a low low tide also easy gettin on n off wen tide comes in - checked it out that morn lol got me markings set will get on there n take pics cos dunno if anyone knows of that spot... looks interesting
