  • roker pier almost a wash out!

Took a trip to Roker pier today with the GF's Son again!

Not having a good time recently of course my gear was nicked last week so today i was using fixed spools (Yeuch) and spinning rods.

Went to set off at 1200 and BANG the exhaust snapped on the car FFS what else is going to go wrong?

Not a man to be beat I jerryrigged a few tent pegs and a strapping system to hold the exhaust up and went fishing anyway lol.

Picked up the bait at denton burn £4 for 2 bags "last time it was all near dead and mushy" this time it was a mix of decent sized worm and scraps  I think I will start going elsewhere now perhaps back to ID on chillingham road?

Anyway got there about 1:30 and fished the outer wall approx 2/3 of the way up. Baited up and cast about 80 yards with one rod and about 15 with the second!

Plenty of velvet crab nicking the bait and the odd one comming in but other than that for the first 2 hours not even a bite.

Eventually closing in to 4pm I got my first bite on the 15 yarder and pulled in a small whiting must have been about 4" long ha ha. Rebaited and cast back to the same spot and before it had a chance to hit the bottom the rod clattered off the railings!

Wahey I thought!!!! Reeling in i felt resistence and thought i had a flatty but when it broke the surface It was a bloody Lobster!

Straight in the seat box lol (dinner)

Just as I was sorting hook trace (lobster chewed up the line) I saw the 80 yarder biting! This looked better nice clean good knocks. Struck and missed it

Rebaited both rods and cast back in and within 15 mins had another 2 whiting again tiny!

I was on the last of my bait when the 80 yarder went clattering again and i managed another Lobster!

No Mackrel at all and to be fair I think I was one of the small few who even caught a fish today let alone my 2 Lobsters.

May just go back to fresh waters and relaxing days under a brolly with the pole touching the rippling water!

Thanks for the heads up on ID

As for the lobsters my neighbour had one and the other went down well with a nice bottle of zindafel rose wine

Planning another trip soon not made my mind up on salt or fresh water though?
