  • blyth pier today

well, i had an early start on the pier today.
turned up just after 4am, few other peeps turned up at the same time.

straight into macky, on the spinners and on the feathers.
bagged up for the winter ;D

took 15 home along with a load of launce, started putting back every other fish once i knew it was going to be busy. must have returned the same as i got.

was mental for a few hours then it totally died off.

forgot how much fun it is, havnt been for a good few years, used to spend all of my summer hols there when i was a kid! lol

had to go and get myself a new filleting knife haha

sea was flat as fook when i first got there, plenty of sandeels swiming about.
also hooked a load of weed for some reason? lol

FEATHERS!?! Sacrilege mate - catch 'em one at a time LOL !!!! (float is best this time of year). Hoping to get down later this afternoon if I can get all my work done, otherwise will have to be back end of the week.

At least you've got stocked up - I reckon I need about another 30, so one good session'll do it. (Mind you, think I'd rather go out 2 or 3 times & get 10-15 each time).

    Cheers, Gary

Like you've never used feathers before lol best thing to use if your after bait for winter, then you may reduce feathers or just use plain old spinners and if your feeling lazy then you may use a float haha

canny report bozjc cheers as am out tonight. tight-lines

i got 6 on the feathers, just wanted to test out the SK4 with them lol

the rest fell to spinner and a couple on the float, spinner was the name of the game this morning.
im thinking of going down again 1st thing tomorrow. They seemed to go mental at 1st light for an hr or so.

i think i could do with another 20 or so, will see how it goes in the morn ;D

i need a bigger freezer at this rate, the top drawer is full of crabs and the bottom drawer is full of macky!
the other half had a twist before when we came back from asda with the shopping.
will have to go and dump some at the old folks chest freezer ;D lol

ritchie, get up early bud, you could do kartwheels on the pier at that time in the morn, before all the kids and others come down and cast over the top of you lol
          well worth it

Should get a cracking view of the meteor shower on the pier - if it's a clear night & there's not too much moon! Thinking about going down myself as I never got out this afternoon.

Yeah, I went on wednesday morning for a few hours (about 4.45 till 8 am) - very slow going. Only managed 2 macks, although had a fair few tiny coalies as well. Looked really nice, just don't know where the fish were. Might head back this evening - we'll see....

                          was heaving on tuesday morn.
                          but pap 2day.
i never fish the end, just fish the last 50yds or so.
or on the bend if using a float ;D
they seem to light 1st light for a few hours, seems to be better if hight tide is near enough the same time a first light.

38 fillets for the winter now, not bad for 2 sessions ;D

Yeah, I was fishing the bend with the float - had a few other missed takes & lost one halfway in, but was largely tedious! I only used one scrap of mackerel belly for bait all morning - never had to change bait! I know Steve (Codboy) came off the end with about 6, but most were leaving with 1 or 2.
