Got to Eyemouth early doors this morning looking for one or two fish with my pal Al who was visiting the area for the very first time.
On our chosen rock mark near the golf course we began okay with one or two small Coaly and Codling taking our baits. After a couple of hours of not a lot of action really we decided to move to another rock mark in the St Abbs/Coldingham area, a spot that I've not fished in sometime.
Here we were straight into fish with Wrasse and Codling, nothing much bigger than 2lb but we were finally catching again.
Al's first ever Wrasse and it wasn't to be the last!
Nice little red Codling for me and a few Wrasse kept me busy along with the ever present Coalfish.
Then Al's day just got better and better as you will see, first with a personal best Wrasse of 2.5lb.
And then his best fish ever, an absolutely cracking red Cod of 7lb. I was over the moon for him as he had kept telling me throughout the day that he was after a nice Cod. Dreams do come true after all, well done Al.
We caught more Wrasse and other small stuff to, making this a very enjoyable day for both of us.
What a cracking first trip up to the Borders for Al and somehow I'm pretty sure it won't be his last. Tightlines, Dave.
