  • st marys island

me and a mate fished around st marys island late last night, early this morning.

we had 6 red cod, all size with in the 1lb 1lb1/2 range, bites every chuck.
some were even pulling the tip over after a few seconds in the water!
we had the odd big lundge, but missed a load more than we caught.
    fishing into the weed.
lug, crab and mussel was the bait of choice, but they were taking, squid and razzor when i used it.

    nice bonus lobster as well.

i dont have pics at the min, my mate has them on his phone.

    cracking little sesson ;D

ever since i fished there in the winter and had a cracking bite that pulled the rod off the stand, i set the ratchet and engage the free spool. they were big enough bites to pull the ratchet for a good second or two lol.

even had a few of them bringing the baits in on a slack line, which is always nice

gis a shout when your free gary, we can have a night session on the rocks, i have plenty.

i can honestly say it was better than most nights i had last winter! lol

im thinking of a trip up to eyemouth for some big fat summer red cod, pollack or wrasse from the deep water and weeds beds

there seemed to be a fair few fish kicking about judging by the bites we were getting.
nothing bit, but there will / should be some bigger ones kicking about ;D
