  • everything but mackeral

me and dave (kela66) went up blyth last night armed with daylights and spinners, ill kill this bit straight away, NOTHING. only one mackeral came in from the end.

so then it was off to mark X in tynemouth. there was a few there and almost straight away we were all into fish, i didn't get any mackeral but dave got one. there was a fair few nice size mackeral coming in. a lad next to us got a coalie about 3lbish and a lad got a codling about 4lb on a spinner. i got nothing on the daylights and on the spinner i got a codling, a few whiting, a coalie which came off on the lift and my favourite one which im over the moon with as its a new species for me a 1.5lb ish pollack . dave got a few coalies and whiting.

Well done for eventually catching lads - went onto Blyth Pier this morning myself (7 - 11.15). Might as well have stayed in bed Plenty of small dabs & 1 plaice (no great size) early on on baits, but all that was caught on spinners / daylights were sandeels & small coalies. When I came off at high tide, about 11.15, there hadn't been a single mackerel caught (far as I know) & there must have been about 30 on by then.

Stuff it till the bigger tides next week I reckon!
