  • Eels in the Tyne

Fished last night with the intention of targeting a specific species - the Common Eel...

Have a little spot that's a banker for this particular fish so off I went

Using my Salt Flattie, fixed spool with braid and 1 up 1 down flapper with size 4 kamasans I lobbed out a frozen crab and runnydown combo...

I get a few rattles but as I've been out of shore practice for a while I didn't "sit on my hands" and as such struck into empty space

Anywho an hour or so in I get a few more rattles - this time I do as I should and allow the bite to develop before striking

Wahey there's a kicking, squirming critter on the end and it feels great fun on the light gear...

...my gear was in a right 2 & 8 when i get it in tho

One Eel for the 2009 species list

Not as exciting as a lunker off the boat - but you have to "keep it real"

    Cheers

    Tony

    I misread your Title Tony

I Thought it said ELL`s in the Tyne ,i had visions of Photo`s from Mark ,where Mr Thompson had fallen off their boat or similar

But as for Eels ,wait until around Sept ,and get yourself up to Costco with fresh crab ,you will get some big ones there

second thoughts dont bother ,just make up 20 rigs ,hoy them in a liquidiser for a minute or so - then at least you can save 3 hrs ,and get yourself to the pub

I did try (for about 5 seconds) to rescue the rig...but in the end I just packed up and went home - mission accomplished

As to Ell in the Tyne...I'm sure that's one for the future Pansy reports
