  • Hebburn again.

Had a few hours on Hebburn yesterday with my mate Ian. Maybe not such a good idea on a big tide as it was difficult to hold bottom and there was quite a lot of old timber moving about in the water mixed with weed. Apart from that we did ok. No size Cod but I had canny Flounder and Ian had couple of nice whiteys. Lots of very small stuff close in and fun on a three hook flapper.

    Heburn

I lost gear every chuck there, thought there must be a mooring rope running up the side for the boats

I thought it was a bit crap, lost 4 sets of gear, tide pull/weed was a pain in the bum, the lugworm we bought wasn't really up to the task and only 2 maybe just size whiting.

Learned a lesson though not to use braid there, must be a ledge 20 or so yards out which you often get hung up on, you can pull out normally but not with braid as the ledge just cuts through your line.

Plenty of boat moorings in that area depending on where you fish. Usually 30yds out ish.... Some other cleaner areas though. At least you caught!

We were not far from there. In fact I went on the wood prom thing is as I was snagged and it was like sheet ice. I went flying up in the air and ended up on my arse. Mind I got my stuff out of the snag.

Giving the marina a go half tide up tonight got a few fresh crab so hopefully get a few fish out, tide is a bit bigger than i would have liked but hebburn is one place in the tyne that can still fish on big tides.
