  • Roker beach.

Me and my mate Ian took part in a comp last night at Sunderland. We opted for the small beach between Rat house pier and the main pier .(which was shut). 3 hook flappers in a canny surfy sea. Loads and loads of small stuff but still got points. Ian had over 20 fish and I had over a dozen. I was knackered measure, release and record scores.
Tried few clipped down Pennel rigs looking for a bigger fish but nothing big took the bait.
Fish caught were Coalies up to 33 cm. Small Codlings far to small to keep but scored points, Whiteys and Flounders.
Made a nice change from blanking. And we did ok in comp.
Next trip Thursday but we going to be trying for a bigger fish-as no comp.
    Mick.

I was speaking to someone who knows the pier very well on the night we fished. The lad who got hit by waves on there and broke his leg is suing the council for 40 grand. The people in charge are going to be very careful now when its opened. In other words any bad weather and it will stay shut.
Ps Whities were just pin size but still scored points.

Bloody ambulance chasers. It'll be a no win - no fee outfit with little social interest. They only want to fill their coffers. The problem is that anyone on the wrong end of an action like this can incur a significant cost in defending it so always try for a mediated outcome of paying a smaller amount to close the books on it.

If the lad concerned is on forum then PLEASE let it drop. It was your fault for being there when the circumstances weren't favourable and the council is in now way responsible for the weather. It's a typical act of God situation.
Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught
