Set off up to Eyemouth on Sunday 31st May with me new Diawa longbeam rod and christened it with my first ever in size codling using double penn rig with raw king prawn tipped with fresh peeler.
The sea was flat calm and the weather was cracking. Ended up with 2 in total at the end of the day, should have had 3 but had a few knocks on the rod on last cast so I tightened the line which then went suddenly slack so reeled it in. halfway in I thought the line had snagged so tried to the usual to release it when suddenly the line slackened and a seal jumped out the water with me gear in its gob and done a runner with me tackle and fish, the

I was gutted but then realised if i hadnt had a hold of me rod it could have been away aswell.
Must be Wrasse week Codseeker as 5 caught by the other lads fishing and they were corkers, sos no photos of the Wrasse but the lads did take photos and they may post hopefully.

          Nice One

Had The Same Thing Happen To Myself Fishing At Dunstanburgh Castle Once.
Got The Knock Struck ,Halfway Into The Retreive The Brakes Went On. Give An Almighty Pull ,Brakes Released And Continued The Retreive Got The Fish To The Surface, Then Sammy The Seal Did The Same. When I Got The Fish Landed It Had Sammy's Teeth Marks From Its Middle To Its Tail End.
