  • Pann's Bank - Sunday 30 Nov 14

    Hi all,

Decided to go to Sunderland and try Roker Pier this morning. I'd heard a few rumours that the work had finished and the council were looking to reopen shortly.

When I parked up I noticed the white council van driving up and down the pier, however the gates were locked. I figured there was a chance that the council was doing a few spot checks and was about to open the pier so decided to grab a bacon sandwich and see what was going on. A few anglers had begun to queue at the gates so I was hopeful that the pier was going to be opened shortly. The van returned and the gates were locked again oh dear.

I decided I was going to try the Wear but wasn't really in the mood for the Ratty...'Have you caught anything mate?' every ten minutes or old guys telling me there were 'No more fish left in the sea'. So I decided on fishing Pann's bank.

It turned out to be a great session. Fish came in fits and starts and I ended up catching 13 fish in total: Whiting to 36cm, Coalies to 32cm and quite a few Tommie Codling. On one of my last casts I managed a just-sized Codling with a dodgy looking tail. I think if it was straight it would have easily been sized .

Baits used: Blow Lug, Frozen Blacks, Mussel and Mackerel.

    Cheers.
