Had a couple of hour on the cliffs over high, had planned to fish Whitburn but there was a lad on the mark when I got there so I left him in peace and headed up the coast. Loads of rockling bites which were a nuisance to be honest but 3 proper bites produced 2 fish and one which dropped off half way back. Biggest just shy of 3lb on cart and lug. I don't know why but something told me some of the "rockling knocks" were actually codling just mouthing the bait, hard to say but I don't like fining down on cliff marks simply because I don't want to catch undersize fish I can't return. So I never found out for sure. Nice to be out anyway and always something to learn.

I caught one which managed to engulf a 5/0. Just had to toss it back over the cliff and hope for the best for it. It won't have been far short of a pound. Does your head in mind when you start thinking its fussy Codling knocking at the bait. That's probably overthinking it to be honest.

Cant fish today mate, I thought the comp would be in the afternoon so made other commitments for the morning. I think either side of high would have been a better choice given the tide, but I guess they wanted to keep the pier in play through the whole match.
