Set away with Pondlife around 6.15. Arrived at Rascarrell about 8.30. After much scrambling, slipping, falling over the rocks to get to the mark, got our lines wet around 9.00. Second cast produced this 2lb 6oz LSD, my personal best for this species.

3rd cast another bite but caught the plug. The fish was on and I gave it a little time to see if it could pull itself out of the snag. Anyway no option but to give it a pull. Lost the lot. By the time I put new shock leader, rig and weight on, the tide was starting to sneak in behind us in the gulleys. Time to move. We decided to head for Ross, west of Kirkcudbright. Nice place but no fish.

well done on ya P B mate, nice doggy, looks like you had a canny day for it anyway, and its a lovely neck of the woods fish or no fish. was over there in jan with a few m8's and it was basically unfishable, massive sea's, white horses as far as the eye could see. 60 quids worth of bait and one tommy between four of us but you somehow always enjoy it over there. we'll be back over soon enough...

It's a fairly barren coastline now out of season. In season you have to target the right sort of fish to make it worthwhile.
