I had planned to fish Whitburn beach or the Hall on the flood yesterday but the reported huge seas chased me up the Tyne in Gateshead. Got there just after low and it was fish every chuck as per usual on lug, however the rainwater in the river must have taken effect after a couple of hours, the tide stopped running and the bites stopped with it. After that crabs came out in force and it was an early night for me. Had 5 size codling between 36 - 39cm (all returned safe), a few decent flounders and the inevitable small stuff. Blow lug seemed to be all you needed while the fish were feeding. 2 hook flappers and 2/0s
