  • Blyth Pier 16/03 evening

Fished the Wansbeck estuary with the bairn on Sunday 15th but gave up after an hour, 4 rods all in the water the full hour without a touch and all baits came back intact. So opted to keep the bait and head along the pier for a couple of hours last night. 2 rods, plenty of knocks but only 1 little flatty and 1 rockling connected.

Both returned alive, rubbish pic of the flatty - I forgot my lamp so couldn't see a thing once it got dark and just pointed the camera in the rough direction!

Was only 2 other people on the pier when I got there, guy said he'd had a fair few flatties earlier in the tide.

At least you caught something which makes it all worth while. I fished Creswell on Sat 14th all day and caught nowt except sand burn on the face from the wind whipping the sand up.

Even just getting bites was nice for a change, especially after the trip to the Wansbeck!
