  • so off we went to hunt for this rare floonder

well me and me mate stu decided to try druridge bay for a hunt for this rare species i have been hearing about and also a chance of a prehistoric oar fish that has been seen lately, arrived around 10ish set up as the tide was into the flood first cast stu pulled in a small dab ,great i thought first fish ,then on the other rod he gets a bite and connects a double shot of flattys

i was fuming by now still nothing to show. (he was rubbing its in at the time \ /  )told him he would be walking home if i got nowt has it was hes idea to fish there pmsl  .we had to move back for the tide flooding quick ,erm i forgot how many times

then i gets a bite and at last stu was going home in the car i managed a decent size dab i think

and the rare species turned up too ,stu had total 5 flattys and i got 2 but it was a new mark he showed me and i really enjoy the day out

Good sesh but all look like flounders to me. Plaice generally rounder fins whereas the flounders come to a bit of a point. Flounders tail squarer as well, some do carry the spots and can be confusing.

Well done Coddy. Like Peter says, they all look like flounders to me. An easy way to identify a dab is run your finger along the top of it from the tail to the head - it'll be rough. Also, they're fairly transparent underneath.

                  Nice one :-)

Love that stretch of beach, walk the dogs there early mornings at the weekend because it's always pretty much deserted. Fished it a couple of times lately but not had any joy (story of my life at the minute!)...

                    Good session.

Druridge can be a bit hitty missy, but when it fishes, it usually fishes well.
