last night me and my mate stu decided on a trip out but wasnt certain on the mark anyway i picked him up from hes at 10pm , we called off for 10 minutes to fill a bucket of fresh mussle before we decided where to go ,anyway it was shields.we had a drive along the ratty see if anyone was down we walked round to see this what some one had left behind one of the seats still burning away there was only one bloke fishing ratty corner he had nothing

anyway we headed to the mark tide was flooding nice with a nice inshore swell first cast resulted in a small codling which went back ,second cast gets a slackliner hit into it and snagged me up ,i managed to free the rig but no sign of the fish ,loaded back up with lug and razorfish a bite again in came a codling of 2lb 6 ounces which it spat out a sandeel

stu seemed to get odd bites but nothing taking the bait , things quietend down come near top of the tide he managed a small codling to save the blank that was our last cast there so we decided to move to another mark the first gate on shields pier for a hour and a half nothing at all crabbed off goodstyle we gave up and headed for home

          twisted firestarter

nice sandeel coddy. i just wonder if its the same bunch of nuggets who set fire to end of the old north pier 4 weeks ago and also a seat at the glass centre two weeks ago. keep your eyes out for a silver escort.

It never seems to amaze me why they do it I know the fishin isn't very good at the mo but why spoil the place I think swimmin lessons would make them think twice!!

well done coddy, i might try using a few sandeels ,shame about the seat its pathetic pig headed people who spoil our fishing by setting fires in the public places, the odd safe fire down the beach aint too bad ,but thats just vandalism, last time i fished the high ledge at glass centre someone had set a fire next to the seat and there rubbish all over ,cant even use the bin and its right next to them.

maybe why the residents are so pished off imagine in your own street guys theres a fishing access and its allways busy anglers turning up you too would want some peace and no worry of folk setting stuff alight and rubbish all over it would pish you off too i can see it becoming a issue with the council etc soon in some marks

                          Wanton Damage

Having both sea-fished in the Winter and fly-fished in Summer for 40 years, I am dismayed at the extent to which sea angler's behaviour and lack of respect for their environment has deteriorated of late.

It has always been there (see my rant re. St Peter's basin 'Notices') BUT, it's getting alarmingly worse.

If you visit a 'Fly Only' venue, you will see negligable litter and even those venues which are so remote that toilet facilities are not an option, you'll never see any evidence of 'fouling' of any description (it's easy to manage if you know what you're doing 'a la Ray Mears')

Roll-on 22nd March when I can 'dump' me sea tackle and get well away from the toe-rags.

well done on catching a fish-if any one sees these people lighting the fires you should put them on it but then again s..t do's not burn-they will spoil it for every one
