  • The Beacons last night

I was gonna wait until the weekend but the forecast wasn't too favorable...Changed again now. Anyway thought I'd have a run over.
Had a look at Cullercoats/Tynemouth but it didn't look the sort of day for round there so I headed to Newbiggin as I've been wanting to have a look at the Beacons....not sure if I was on the right bit but there was a load of junk from where someone else had been fishing so I reckon I wasn't too far away....maybe someone can tell me from the pics?
Started fishing around 1530 and gave it till 2300. Bait used lug/razor/mussel. Plenty of small bites on the razor/lug cocktails resulting in a couple of very small codlings....couldn't conect them with a big bait pennel but they took the single hook trace. There was a couple of lads nearby and they'd been getting bother with the small fish as well.
It wasn't too bad a night, bit of a swell rolling in, slight N'ly breeze which turned to the NW then the snow started just as I got to the car.
