there are a few rock marks around seaton sluice mate.

if you turn in before the bridge (coming from whitley bay, you have gills chippy on the left, then take the right next to the social club before the bridge)

then take the 1st left and you will be above the harbour and have the kings arms pub. good place to park the car.

you have a bridge that goes over the gut of the harbour (this is rocky island).
if you cross the bridge and walk straight ahead, you will come to a fence and there will be rocks in front of you, follow the fence towards the small breakwater for the harbour. you will see some steps going down to the rocks. go down here and turn right, walk along the rocks and you will see an outcrop with a few gulleys either side of it. this is the sumps, can fish well but can lose some gear if you dont cast out to far, your fishing into a hole, cast towards the lighthouse at blyth.

another mark is what is classed as rocky island.

cross the bridge over the gut from the pub and take a sharp right, there is a small path that runs down to the gut enterance along side the white house on the island. its a very small grass track and can be slippy, extremem care should be taken as its a sheer drop to the right! take your time.
once down this you will be on grass with the gut to your right. carry on ahead and you will come to some rocks, make your way down to the rocks taking care as they are slippy and have gaps inbetween them that could hurt if you slip. once down, you will see a mass of flat rock with what looks like a concrete pipe heading towards the lighthouse at blyth. There is a ledge that runs out along the flat rock.
cast anywhere from here, if you get a good cast you are fishing onto sand, cleanish bottom. Just make sure you reel in fast on the retrieve as you can catch the shelf in front. take care when fishing here and dont fish if there is a sea running!!

you can also fish on the other isde of the gut, but this gets alot heavier and you will loose more gear. then further round to the right you have charlies garden and collywell bay. there are some nice skeers and an island that you can fish from at low tide.

      i hope that helps?

im always wetting a line around this area

you can fish the sumps at most stages of the tide, on smaller tides you can fish on the left hand side of the gut. rocky island is a low water down and a few hours up mark, before you have to run off.

i was at the sumps today but there is a bit of a big lazy swell going on and it was hard to hold the bottom. but i never lost any gear. no fish came ashore.

there was a guy fishing from the cliff to the rig at the rear of rocky island.

the gut area can be productive at time, but you really need a strong rod, heavy line and some strong hooks with rotton bottoms, as you found out, its very kelpy and rough.

if you cross the gut and fish the flat rocks to the left of the gut, i love that mark ;D

sumps is a good mark and has seen you lunker fish in the past. be careful if you havnt been before as the gulleys are rather deep and the tide swirls around there if there is a slight swell on. best to do a recky during the day ;D
