  • Newbiggin and Blyth piere by a complete novice

    Was at Newbiggin last night fished the beach for a couple hours with me da... caught nowt but seaweed.

    Went to Blyth Pier today about 11.30am on way back home to Durham from seein me da... couple blokes there hour before me. They offered some great advice and were canny crack, especialy the older chap.. didnt catch his name anyhows thanks lads if your readin this.

    Got excited quite a few times as the rod twitched on each of me casts but to no avail.. each time i pulled up looked like the bottom of the worm been chowed off.. anywayz was there until 4pm and called it a day.... was usin rag tipped with some macky

              well done for sticking it out mate.

              there seems to be alot of small stuff in the harbour and around the pier at the min. I was getting alot of small rattles and a few well undersize fish.

              just for the sport, maybe get some small hooks. size 2 are ideal for worm and will allow you to pick up some flatties etc. they like to take you mackrel off and nipp the ends off your worms.

              im sure you will be able to get alot of advice from guys on here regarding gear, methods and marks to fish. They all seem to be a good friendly bunch.

              Good thing to do if you really enjoy fishing will be to join a fishing club and fish the odd match. you get to pick up alot of info really quickly that way
