Fished last night with a couple of mates. The weak tide meant we couldn't get onto wilkies so we fished big bay next to it. First cast me mate gets a 6 pound cod (that had a canny sack of roe in it). Twenty minutes later I ended my blanking run with a coalie that went back safe and sound with me eternal thanks.

Not much else happend so moved along to pananama, stayed here for about an hour but after no bites between the three of us we moved up to Cullercoats.

Fished of the pier on the south side as the tide was in a bit. I got a decent take but it snagged itself straight away. If I had to guess would say a codling about two pounds. Couldn't get out of the snag though and lost me shockleader.

We got a few more knocks over the next few hours with nowt staying on. Then last cast I got a slightly undersize codling to finish the night. Walked down the steps and he swam off safely.

All in all a canny night with one good fish and a big weight off my mind ending my epic blanking run.

Mate took a few photos on his camera, will try to get some off him this weekend.

Looks like what I thought might happen, did. Was expecting after the decent seas Wednesday night that when it calmed down on Thursday there might be a few fish feeding about. Seems there was quite a bit caught last night, well done everyone, some belters there.

Well done mate, always good to put a lean spell behind you - had my first sizeable fish since the end of November last night, 7lb 6oz (fed up with undersize tommies & rocklings!). Like your mate's it was fairly busting with roe.
