Had to christen my new Zensorflex so took that, my usual spinning rod that I use as an all-rounder and one of the beach-casters (3 rods, yes being greedy!) along to the Wansbeck next to the boat sheds. Sea outside the estuary fairly rough, wishing I'd tried the beach for bass but got caught up with constant bites that weren't connecting time and time again in the estuary. Heck of a lot of leaf litter and small branches coming down from the river, which was getting annoying at times. The bites continued from just before 2pm right through until I left at 4pm. It was the last cast of the beachcaster, thrown to the middle of the bay, having broken the other 2 rods down that finally connected. 2 big ragworm on a 2/0 Aberdeen and I was in. After an epic fight I landed the beast and man had it ever taken that entire hook and bait. Lovely plaice in perfect condition, I was well chuffed, four quids worth of ragworm well spent for this fish of a lifetime, it had to be easily a whopping two and a half inches long lol. Ohh well, least I found out what all the bites were! Still can't get over it taking a hook far bigger than it's body width and gulping those huge ragworms!
Got a few rags left and some razor in the freezer, gonna hop out this afternoon for a short hour before dinner, hopefully i'll do better!
