  • The Heugh, Twin Steps 171008

Me and mick dunn had another trip down Hartlepool yesterday. We started about 12.30 on the end of the Heugh. The sea was fairly flat but the water was coloured. Using rag, squid and mackerel I managed 2 fish and mick six. We then decided to ove on as the strong westerly was becoming a pain in the bum.some pics-

A dab and a lesser spotted rubber glove for mick!

a dab and a whitey on the same pennel rig.

another double shot for mick, but what is the small fish?

the first cod of the season lol!!!

We then moved around to the beach in front of the twin steps. For some reason there was a lovely sea running and it did look fishy. First cast was a great start.

a nice flounder and a small coalie on the same pennel

    a nice sea running.

    a coley for mick

and a rockling for mick, the bait that caught it was bigger!!

I finished with 8 fish and mick had 9, a canny day out! All were returned apart from one coley for micks tea.

Thanks for putting the photies on again Ian. Next time i,ll charge the batteries in me camera.

Great session-really enjoyed the beach. I was surprised by the amount of fish pulled in from the steps. The dab you got first cast was massive.

It must have something to do with all the movement in the water with the waves breaking.

Filleted me coley and i,ll have it for me tea tomorrow.

Would love to have pulled a nice cod out.

          mick.

mick it was a flounder not a dab. There sort of somewhere inbetween a dab and a plaice.

The fresh air didnt do my cold any good either. If anything its worse today. I even nearly finished work early cos i felt ill, that was until some inconsiderate sod decided to burn their house down at 5am this morning!
