Sorry its a bit late but heres a quick report from last tues/wed- had a fe problems trying to get photo off my phone!!
Anyway, tried the Target at ryhope for the first time over low water tuesday afternoon with mate Dean.
Looked spot on but never got a sniff.(Rag and squid). Dean managed a codling of 1 1/2 pounds on crab/mussel.He also missed one other bite before having to rush off with the squirts!!
A couple of hours into the flood and still nothing so had a move to seaham, south side.
Water rolling in a treat so set up in anticipation. No bites until top of the tide when a little bite resulted in a pouting..a fish at last!!
This was followed shortly after with a slack liner, (on rag and a bit of scrounged crab) which turned out to be the first codling of the season at 1 1/4 pound.
Got another slack liner soon after on rag and squid, turned out to be this beauty bag on 4 ib...
Missed the next one(still dont know how )which which gave a good thump and then bounced the weight , and then got one more slacker and another codling of 1 1/2 ib.
Fished till 3.45am without any more bites so went back to the car for some sleep.
Back up for 9am and tried Noses point for a few hours to use the bait up. Unfortunately no more bites in two hours so called it a day.
Really chuffed to get some cod this early, hopefull yits going to be a good season!!
