  • The Heugh today

Well after the major let down of the boat trip on Sea Otter 2 being cancelled myself and mick dunn had plenty of bait to used up, I didnt want to waste my days holiday so we headed for the Heugh. We fished from about 1015am to 0330pm.

Well the result it was a canny day, the weather was great and the sea was fairly flat with a smallish swell rolling in (a boat trip would have been fine though). The day started of with me having a coley about 1.5lb first cast. Well it would have been canny if it hadnt dropped off on the lift! I then had a bite a cast which must have been very small stuff as i just couldnt hook up very often.

Mick finised up with 6 fish and i had 5 (6 if you include the dropped coley) species included many weavers, a whiting, 2 coleys, some dabs and the fish of the day which was a nice plaice to me.

It seems though that its still a bit warn to put off the numpties. There were still a few cider crinking, mushroom taking, cack talking, techno playing numpties on the pier!

Those photos are better each time i look at them.

As to the weavers i went easy on them today and carried out my catch and release policy.

            Mick.

nice pic ,glad that you returned the weavers most people just squash them with their foot and rip the hook out, its not their fault they have stinging barbs ,and in my opinion have as much right to swim free as any other fish in the sea.
