Wor lass was virtually throwing out the door to go fishing so rang Stefan and decided to head to cullernose for the evening but couldn't get any crab for bait so stuck to bluey mussel and ragworm. Gets along to the point and found little room to fish as there was 5 other lads already on but had nowt but small coalies. We didn't catch anything in the couple if hours off the point so headed along to the black hole a little into the ebb 1st chuck for me produced a massive slack liner and before I could get to the rod it was nearly pulled out the stand and before long I had landed my 1at codling of the night weighing 3lb dead on. Things seemed to be much better at the hole as we were getting bites every cast. I was in again next cast and landed a coalie about 1lb. Before long Stefan had his 1st codling just undersize but atleast he didn't blank. I ended up taking another codling at 34 cm. Stefan was snagged up about 11:45 and lost his end gear and decided to call it a night bit before I got my gear back again the rod was nearly out the stand and I hit into what felt a very nice fish turned out to be a dogfish weighing 2.5lb. Packed the gear up and headed home satisfied with my catch. The night was very warm and no rain but those rocks on the point are still slippery when there dry. Good nights fishing for us I think.

Cracking report mate fish baits can bring the better cod in as they do eat small fish, crab is a good bait this time if year but find you get plagued with smaller stuff, cracking dog mate well done

Lads had been on the point all day for very few fish. If I was you I'd try it for an hour if you have no luck then move along to the holes. That's what I normally do anyway.

I had 16 fish in about 4 hours from Beadnell last august All taken on bluey and mussel. Doesn't have to be winter. If the fish want it they will eat it.

No all year round look at the boat lads how many use fish baits, even crab baits tipped with fish works well, I would say overall crab baits in summer work best but I bet more of the bigger fish fall to fish baits.
