With the weather forecast for heavy showers and chance of thunder I took a chance and headed up to beadnell for my first trip in a couple of years. Set up behind the phone box and chucked out with my eliminator I bought of a lad on here and it had been very lucky in the winter. Bait had been out about 10 mins when I got a small knock then few mins later the butt was lifted of the ground and I grabbed hold of it and waited with nothing happening. I could feel line tightening so struck it hard and the fish was thumping back, it was arm wrenching work pumping the fish and I knew it was a good fish by the weight and the head shaking, eventually it surfaced and it weighed in at 8.6lb on the digital scales and my second biggest cod from the shore. Very little else fare that except a couple of little codling but won't be complaining
