Me n mad rob headed to the pier at just after 10 looking for a plaice and wrasse we set up at the 43 mark just down from Andyco and sean
We took 3 rods each
A big rod out for plaice / gurnards
A small rod for the species down the side
And a spinning / float rod set up with a zenith for a bit makki bashing
We were into small coalies from the start then Andyco come down poaching our area lol and he pulls out a lovely deep red ballan wrasse then took it back up to the 44 mark and photo then release up there ( sly git )
Then he shouts down .... A nice plaice by now I'm getting sick of coalies
Then I get a lovely bite and out comes a corkwing wrasse for me ( Andy copelands thinks)
Mad rob was gutted as he hadn't got 1 but then his float goes under and a new species blenny
It was fish a chuck with the little gear and rob gets another new species pollack
Only small but still counts
Sean pulled in a double shot of a flounder n dab Andy gets a new species blenny to I got a canny flounder on the big rod and re-baited with a bling rig with rag n makki and as soon as it hit the water rod went berserk , only caught a big makki on bait surprising as not many getting caught
I got a lovely Kelpy cod down the side
Then robs float shoots under and another corkwing for his species
making him a very happy lad
Poor Sean only 1 not to get a wrasse lol him and Andyco left cheers for the rag and great banter boys
A makki got pulled in just up from us so I cast out the zenith 2 casts and 2 pollack this been the biggest
We met Anthony morrow and my old mate Alan Heeley on the cod hunt which he gave us some great advice for next time I think he had 5 cod in a couple of hours keeping 3
We left the pier at 9.30 a 11hr session burnt and tired but with about 10 species between us and a lovely pic of tynemouth to leave you all with
Till next week adios
Ps if the lad with the green t-shirt fishing the second set of steps into the bay for makki with the 2 young lads about 6 and 9 get a look at yourself I would never put my sons life at risk absolutely disgracefully u fishing on top and the boys down the steps on wet seaweed spinning around throwing a lobster net in only a couple of feet from the side if he went in the current there would of gone in seconds the 4 of us couldn't believe it we were on edge from 60 yards away
