Alright everyone.
I'd been wanting to go up st abbs for a few weeks now to get some fish on me lure rod and I was in 2 minds weather to go up this weekend the. I got a offer from Outkast Chris askin if I fancied it.
I met Chris and my mate at 7am and away we went. The rain lashed down about half way up and had me thinking the day was ruined before we even got there. Anyway the rain stopped and the sun was back out by the time we parked up.
We walked round to the mark where the anchor is at the bottom and had a good laugh skidding down the bank. About half way down I slipped, landing my backside and nuts on a thistle. It was a good laugh getting down and that hill looks even worse from the bottom.
I had a rest and a smoke before setting up and had a look around. I was over the moon with how clear the water was. We tried the lures for an hour or 2 but nothing was happening so me n young Ethan set the floats up and Chris disappeared for a while.
After a few chuck Ethan found the wrasse!! He'd never caught one before and broke his new spinning rod in with this one which had it bent right over. He was owa the moon.
I couldn't believe how close in the wrasse were. Our floats were no more that 2 foot away from us with the hook about 8-10 foot down. Fighting with the wrasse was the most fun I've had fishing for ages on the light gear. Me and Ethan ended up with 6 wrasse between us. I got 2 and the first one went next to my species card.
We got the lures out for the last couple of hours but again not much happening apart from Chris getting the paddle bit off one of his lures.
By about half 2 the bay was filling right up and we were gonna get cut off so we called it a day. Away we went up the hill. We managed to get up trouble free but I wish there was a rope from top to bottom. I took this pic to try and show how steep it is.
I got back to Sunderland about half four so I went and had a pint of ale in the Crickety to finish off a great day.
Big thanks to Chris for offering to take me up. Your a star. We will have to do it again soon mate.
My legs are achin today but that was all part of the fun.
