  • Seaham pier

1st time I've been down for a while. I thought it was being closed for work.
So, went on at around 8pm and fished through till half 12.
Was using salted rag saved from a previous session on bottom hook and sandeel on the top.
Apart from crabs stripping the sandeel there was no interst in it but the rag took a few saucer sized flounders. The hook was smaller mind you.

When the rag ran out I used some reaaly high Bluey strips and within a couple minutes had a decent sized whitie of around 14" which went back in.

Not long after I got a funny sort of knock. No grab and run and nothing like a flounder. I struck into it though and brought in my first doggie.

    Hometime and happy.
Someone further up got a decent size doggie too from what I could see.

Just to say, there was bloody big sea trout jumping within distance too but didn't have any lures with me.
Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught

I know exactly what you mean about the Dogfish knocks. I caught some over at Whitehaven last year and the knocks were different to anything else, more of a series of slow erratic pull downs.
