  • Howdon Jetty

Fished the Tyne yesterday, hoping for a few flatties. Using a 10' spinning rod and 10lb line with 1.5 oz sinker. 2 hook rigs, beads & size 1 hooks with rag. Managed one whiting 1 coaly & a flounder, all very small. The river must be carpeted with crabs though. At one point I managed to land five crabs on two hooks!. Possibly still a bit early for the flatties.

It's a "private" jetty thats part of the site where I work, it's near the old Tilcon jetty which I think is the one you mean Red Rock. The Tilcon used to be a good shot when it was open. Had some decent codling off there back in the day!.

you should try it with a "baited spoon" on light gear its great for flatties and the crabs dont bother chaseing after it. peeler or fish strips work best.
