had half a bag of rag left so popped down the tyne around 6.45 , took my 9 yr old daughter with me, she was using an old pier rod from my 80s diawa 5 pce rod set. within 1/2 hour she had caught these 2 (see attached photos) ,but the main reason for posting is a young lad next to us said he caught a 3 1/2 pound bass yesterday from the same spot , what do you think ? do bass come up this far

I used to get the MAFF river surveys which covered the Tyne , Wear and Tees. They basically hoy in a net at set locations and report number of fish and species. Last one I had was from the mid 90's. It reported Bass up as far as Newburn. In that net it also reported "fresh" water species , Gudgeon I think.

I remember a good few years back now i was down at the Royal quays on the mouth of the quay entrance. It was early morning and the area was alive with small bait fish probably small coalies and i seen about a dozen bass attacking the bait fish.I tried allsorts to try and get a hook up with those bass. One of them cleared the water as i lifted my spinner and it must of been 5lb.. i was back down for three mornings after that trip and i seen them everytime. But could i 'flip' get one to take...AAAAAaaaaarrrrgghhh!!!!
