fished yesterday with the brother in law (his first time out for 20 years!) on blyth pier. got their for about 10:30 and the plan was to fish till high water, bout 3:20. lovely sunny but cold start. brother in law caught a nice whiting before i even managed to get a bait in the water! didn't take me long to catch up mind with a codling of about 3/4 lb (thats three quarters of a pound not 3 or 4 lb by the way) he followed that up with a half decent coalie after another half hour or so, then another small codling for moi. bout 12:30 some one turned out the lights and set the snow meter to MAX. it never let for a second and it blew like billio so by 2:30 when we were totally soaked(and wa hands were too cold to bait up) we bottled it. i had had another small codling and that was wa wack. sea was perfect and i thought that yesterday might well of been the day................. never mind tha's always next time, and theres another member in our ranks as the bruv in law enjoyed himself and now wants some gear watch this space...

i was there last night (monday) ist time i had seen it ,& to be honest i thought when people talked about blyth they were on about the harbour , can you advise the best place to fish from it i was only about 1 3rd of the way up thinking it was a good place for flatties , im new to this lark and was amazed when i dropped the weight down to find about 4 feet of water . 2 nd cast started to reel in and the rod bent double, my heart was racing i could see something on the hook got it to about 10ft away , a massive piece of f* kin sea weed , and that was my lot not even a bite , still better than stopping in watching the telly
