Fished the tide up yesterday on the 43 mark in great weather. Put the big rod out with big crab and rag baits in the hope of a codling and got one just size which was returned. Water looked too dirty for the chance of a Plaice so stuck it out on big smelly baits on a 2/0 Pennel. Plenty of rattles from Dabs and smaller fish but only a Pollock around 25cm and a similar size Dab managed to hook themselves apart from the little codling (see pic).

Float fishing was very poor, possibly again due to the water color but managed a couple of small coleys at maximum depth bouncing the bait (piece of rag) through the rocks and kelp.

Had a go down the side with the LRF gear and plenty of little coleys on that plus a couple of little codling about half a pound apiece. One was red like a goldfish and I thought it was a wrasse as it came up the wall. But not to be.

All in all a pleasant enough short session and some good company.

Canny session mate. A few more days with the sea flat and the wrasse will come out to play.

was off the end there yest ebb tide went and left fresh crab in house by mistake but had two flasks of frozen only had a small lobster.wished i had gone to seaham as i was in too minds and knew there would be codling there and i wasnt wrong, love shields but a canny walk but did enjoy the dolphin show was good.good sea on and think there would of been quite a few codling on the flood around block area but seen a good string of pots put out near side of pier all the way up it always spoils it.
