  • Crabsticks turbot challenge

Me , madrob and outcast Chris headed to druridge bay on the hunt for turbot and we wernt disappointed
First time I've fished there and it's a lovely beach a little bit windy but bright

2 rods a piece using Fishingmarks advice 2 hook flapper worm on top and makki on bottom hook 1st cast and in comes my first ever turbot about the size of my palm but a beautiful looking fish and another fish ticked off the species list

Then within half an hour Chris gets 1 and new species for him

Rob then pulled in a Bonny little plaice he was gutted it wasn't a turbot

Left at 4ish with us all getting flounders to headed to Roker pier to finish our session pulling in coalies flounders dabs and double shots of scorpion fish

There was a pod of dolphins hanging around the pier maybe 30 yards from the pier they were jumping and playing must of been at least 20 of them
Great day with good crack and a new species to go with my sun tan from today

Great stuff mate. Great place to fish up there and so many spots to fish. Glad you all caught. You missed nothing at ssp, all of the fish left with Andyco lol.

Good session lads, I'm gonna try for turbot on shields beach, if I can't get one there I'll have to give druridge a shot.

Looks like a good day out Mick. Do those Turbot get bigger as the season progresses? I have seen a few on here, but none very big.

I was told that the larger ones tend to feed in the dark and the smaller ones feed more in daylight. Don't know how true this is.
