Fished the 44 on SSP this morning from 9am to around 1pm. (low tide was 1pm). Lovely morning, with the sun out.
The pier was very quiet early on, but the fishing was good from the off.
I was just using a two hook flapper with size 1 hooks, with rag tipped with sandeel.
First cast got me a Dab, then had a long run of Flounder every cast. One of them was quite big, 36cm, but really fat as well.
Then I got another heavy fish which turned out to be my first ever Plaice.
Really pleased to get one, and pleased it was a decent size.
Then fishingmark came along, and then I met waco and barnacle bill. The fishing slowed down then, but on my second to last cast I got another new species for me, a Dragonet.
Had a great morning, one of my best sessions for a while with 4 species, 2 of them new for me, and around 12 fish altogether; and got a bit of a sun tan.
Would of stayed down all afternoon, but had other plans, and the flies were getting to be a bit of a pain.
